Welcome!

This is the home page for Chemistry at Ogden.  Students and parents may use this site as a way to stay informed regarding the activity in Regular and Honors Chemistry throughout the school year.

Final Exam

Your final exam will consist of two parts:
1) Participation in the district-mandated PLAN test, which will be administered in the morning on Thursday, May 31.  You will receive 100% for this portion of the final exam as long as you complete the science test and your score improves from the last time you took the test.
2) A short, 20-question exam which will be given on Friday, June 1.  The questions will be evenly distributed across the topics listed on your review sheet.

Extra Credit

Look in this space for extra credit opportunities in chemistry periodically through the year.

Chicago Tribune Investigative Report: Flame Retardants
In class, you read an article that introduced the topic of flame retardants.  This investigative report in the Chicago Tribune had 4 parts (Access all articles at http://media.apps.chicagotribune.com/flames/index.html)  Read one of the other 3 articles in the series, and write up to a 1-page response.
Due May 29.

Biochemistry Unit
Listen to the radio program, embedded below.  This program contains a variety of stories surrounding a central theme: the gut.  Because we are studying the chemistry of food and of the body in class, this program provides additional information on some fascinating (and gross?) ways that we have learned how our body extracts energy from our food.  For extra credit, write up a reflection on one (or multiple) of the stories in this podcast.  Due May 29.
